WHY IT MATTERS.
The competition-oriented Cobra R uses a larger pushrod V8 and a deliberately stripped specification. Verify R-model documentation separately from regular Cobra information.
The 5.0L pushrod V8 continued in 1994–95 before the GT adopted the 4.6L modular engine for 1996. Bullitt, Mach 1, and Cobra R added distinctive engineering and character. The supercharged 2003–04 Cobra earned the enthusiast nickname Terminator.
BUYING & SERVICING.
Check convertible operation, cooling-system history, intake-manifold condition where applicable, and the quality of modifications. Cobra independent rear suspension requires different inspection and service references from a live-axle GT.
Check the exact vehicle's identification, records, and fitted equipment. Modified engines, transmissions, and brake packages require their own applicable documentation.
