KNOW THIS GENERATION.
Match service information to the engine and model year. Inspect clutch and gearbox operation, rear-axle noise, water entry, and modifications. Three-valve and Coyote engines have different procedures and service concerns.
The 2005 car launched with a 4.0L V6 or three-valve 4.6L V8. The 2010 body update preceded the 2011 engine changes. The 2012–13 Boss 302 focused on road-course performance, and the 2013–14 GT500 used a supercharged 5.8L V8.
TAKE IT ONE CHECK AT A TIME.
Checks are temporary and reset when you reload. Print the page to take notes beside the car.
ORIGINAL, RESTORED, OR MODIFIED?
These are different purchase decisions. An original car needs evidence of provenance. A restored car needs evidence of workmanship. A modified car needs a documented combination of compatible parts, tuning, and supporting systems. A desirable badge cannot answer those questions on its own.
Compare the vehicle with its period Ford reference, then use the applicable manual for technical checks. For modern cars, check NHTSA recalls separately; a VIN decode does not show an individual car’s open recalls.
