Vehicle applicability: This diagnostic supplement covers multiple Ford vehicles and engines. Follow the application named in the source below. Some references apply to vehicles other than Mustang.

QA16 REFLASH THE PCM

• Clear the PCM DTCs.

• Reprogram or update the PCM calibration. Refer to Section 2, Flash Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM), Programming the VID Block for a Replacement PCM.

• Road test the vehicle.

• Carry out the PCM self-test.

• Verify the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes

No

For Fiesta and Focus with DTC U1013, INSTALL a new TCM. REFER to the Workshop Manual Section 307-01, Automatic Transmission.

Clear the PCM DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

For DTC U1012, REPROGRAM or UPDATE the ABS Calibration. REFER to the Workshop Manual Section 418-01, Module Configuration.

Clear the PCM DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

For all others, REPROGRAM or UPDATE the TCM Calibration. REFER to the Workshop Manual Section 418-01, Module Configuration.

Clear the PCM DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

The system is operating correctly at this time.

QA17 CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION

• Disconnect all the PCM connectors.

• Visually inspect for:

◾ pushed out pins ◾ corrosion

• Connect all the PCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.

• Carry out the network test and verify the concern is still present.

• Carry out the PCM self-test.

• Verify the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes

No

INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to Section 2, Flash Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM), Programming the VID Block for a Replacement PCM.

The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
