Vehicle applicability: This diagnostic supplement covers multiple Ford vehicles and engines. Follow the application named in the source below. Some references apply to vehicles other than Mustang.

TA3 CHECK CPP SWITCH OPERATION

Note: The CPP switches should change states when the CPP percentage PID is between 11% to 63% and 67% to 95% while applying the clutch pedal.

• Access the PCM and monitor the CPP_BOT (MODE) and CPP_TOP (MODE) PIDs.

• Access the PCM and monitor the CPP_PERCENT (PER) PID.

• Apply and release the clutch pedal.

Does the CPP_TOP PID value change when the CPP PERCENT PID value is between 11% to 63%, and does the CPP_BOT PID value change when the CPP PERCENT PID value is between 67% to 95%?

Yes

No

The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.

For the CPP BOT PID concern, INSTALL a new CPP switch.

REFER to the Workshop Manual Section 303- 14, Electronic Engine Controls.

Clear the PCM DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

For all others, INSTALL a new CPP switch.

REFER to the Workshop Manual Section 419- 03, Cruise Control.

Clear the PCM DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

TA4 CHECK THE CPP SWITCH

WARNING: BLOCK ALL WHEELS, SET THE PARKING BRAKE AND FIRMLY APPLY THE SERVICE BRAKE TO REDUCE THE RISK OF VEHICLE MOVEMENT DURING THIS PROCEDURE. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY.

• Ignition ON, engine OFF.

• Access the PCM and monitor the CPP_BOT (MODE) PID.

• Apply and release the clutch pedal.

Does the PID value change when the clutch pedal is applied and released?

Yes

No

This may be an intermittent circuit concern. INSPECT connectors for signs of damage, water intrusion, corrosion. REPAIR as necessary.

GO to TA5 .

TA5 CHECK THE SWITCH CIRCUIT RESISTANCE

Note: The CPP switch is located near the clutch pedal.

Note: Measure the CPP switch resistance with the clutch pedal pressed down.

• Ignition OFF.

• Inspect the switches and brackets for damage. Repair as necessary.
