Interior Lighting - Overview

Overview

The interior lighting system consists of:

Courtesy lamps Demand lamps Ambient lighting (if equipped)

The courtesy lamps subsystem consists of:

Interior lamps (roof mounted) Pony projection lamps (part of the exterior mirror assemblies) Door ajar switches (integrated into the door latches) BCM

The courtesy lamps provide illumination to the interior of the vehicle when entering or exiting the vehicle.

The demand lamps subsystem consists of:

Interior lamps (map lamps) Luggage compartment lid ajar switch (integrated into the luggage compartment lid latch) Luggage compartment lamp Vanity mirror lamps Floor console bin BCM

The demand lamps provide illumination to specific areas within the vehicle when needed.

The BCM energizes the battery saver output supply voltage to the demand lamps when the battery saver feature is not active.

The ambient lighting subsystem consists of:

Ambient lighting Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) IPC Body Control Module B (BCMB)

The ambient lighting is controlled through the IPC message center. The ambient lighting provides aesthetically colored illumination to the following locations for illuminated entry or when the ignition is ON or the parking lamps are on:

Floor console cup holders Interior door release handles Scuff plate trim panels Front footwells
