NOTE: Failure to follow the camshaft tightening procedure can result in damage to the camshafts.

NOTE: Lubricate the camshaft journals and camshaft bearing caps with clean engine oil.

51. Lubricate the camshafts and caps with clean engine oil and install the camshafts, caps and bolts.

Material

: Motorcraft® SAE 5W-30 Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil (U.S.) / XO-5W30-QSP (U.S.) (WSS-M2C946-A)

Tighten 2 turns at a time in the sequence shown in illustration in 2 stages.

Torque:

Stage 1: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

Stage 2: 142 lb.in (16 Nm)
