Removal
1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining and Vacuum Filling (303-03C Engine Cooling - 5.0L 32V Ti-VCT/5.0L Ti-VCT V8 (308kW/418PS), General Procedures).
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe (303-12C Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 5.0L 32V Ti-VCT/5.0L Ti-VCT V8 (308kW/418PS), Removal and Installation).
3. Loosen the coolant pump pulley bolts.
4. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt (303-05C Accessory Drive - 5.0L 32V Ti-VCT/5.0L Ti-VCT V8 (308kW/418PS), Removal and Installation).
5. NOTICE: Cover the A/C compressor belt to prevent coolant contamination of the belt.
Completely cover the A/C compressor belt with waterproof plastic.
6. Remove the thermostat housing. Refer to: Thermostat Housing (303-03C Engine Cooling - 5.0L 32V Ti-VCT/5.0L Ti-VCT V8 (308kW/418PS), Removal and Installation).
7. Remove the bolts and the coolant pump pulley.
