18. Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

19. Support the cylinder head on a bench with the head gasket side up. Check the cylinder head distortion and the cylinder block distortion. Refer to: Cylinder Head Distortion . Refer to: Cylinder Block Distortion .

1. Install the cylinder head gasket.

NOTE: If the cylinder head is replaced, a new secondary timing chain tensioner will need to be installed.

NOTE: Install new cylinder head bolts.

2. Install the cylinder head and the new bolts.

Torque:

Stage 1: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

Stage 2: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)
