Remove and discard the bolt and loosen the upper shaft from the lower shaft by partially pulling them apart from each other.

6. Remove the driver knee airbag. Refer to: Driver Knee Airbag (501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, Removal and Installation).

7. NOTICE: Do not reuse steering column shaft bolts. This may result in fastener failure and steering

column shaft detachment or loss of steering control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).

Remove the steering column upper shaft.

1. Remove the nuts.

2. Remove and discard the bolt.

3. Pull apart the upper shaft from the steering column.

4. Pull apart and remove the upper shaft from the lower shaft.
