V4 INSPECT THE REAR USB (UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS) CABLE AND APIM (SYNC MODULE)

Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Rear USB Cable from the APIM ( USB cable with grey end). REFER to: SYNC Module [APIM] (415-00A Information and Entertainment System - General Information - Vehicles With: AM/FM/CD/SYNC, Removal and Installation). Inspect the APIM connector port and both ends of the rear USB cable for damage. Remove any debris.

Is any damage present?

Yes

• For the rear USB cable, INSTALL a new rear USB port/cable. REFER to: SYNC Module [APIM] to Universal Serial Bus (USB) Port Cable (415-00A Information and Entertainment System - General Information - Vehicles With: AM/FM/CD /SYNC, Removal and Installation).

• For the APIM, PERFORM the APIM Hardware Test. Click here to access Guided Routine (APIM).

GO to V5

V5 CHECK THE REAR USB (UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS) PORT FOR FUNCTIONALITY

Connect: USB Cable to the APIM. Connect: MIT 105-00120 to the rear USB port. Select USB mode on the MIT. Operate the audio system in USB mode and observe the audio output.

Is the audio system USB output OK with the MIT 105-00120 connected to the rear USB port?

Yes

The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern was caused by the USB connector not being seated correctly.

No

GO to V6

V6 ISOLATE THE REAR USB (UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS) PORT/CABLE

Install a new rear USB port/cable. REFER to: SYNC Module [APIM] to Universal Serial Bus (USB) Port Cable (415-00A Information and Entertainment System - General Information - Vehicles With: AM/FM/CD/SYNC, Removal and Installation). Connect: MIT 105-00120 to the rear USB port. Select USB mode on the MIT. Operate the audio system in USB mode and observe the audio output.

Is the audio system USB output OK with the MIT 105-00120 connected to the rear USB port?

Yes

The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern was caused by an inoperative USB cable.

No
