Z3 CHECK THE INOPERATIVE BLUETOOTH DEVICE FEATURE

Monitor the Bluetooth device paired PID (BT_PAIR) and the Bluetooth device connected PID (BT_CONN).

Do the Parameter Identifications (PIDs) both read "Yes"?

Yes

• If an individual Bluetooth device feature such as text messaging, Bluetooth media playback or controls, phone book download, call history, or call waiting is inoperative , GO to Z3

• If individual Bluetooth device features such as text messaging, Bluetooth media playback or controls, phone book download, call history, or call waiting are operating correctly , the system is operating correctly at this time. REVIEW the pairing process with the customer.

No

If the customer's device does not pair or connect, GO to Z4

Z3 CHECK THE INOPERATIVE BLUETOOTH DEVICE FEATURE

Review the device compatibility list and determine if the inoperative Bluetooth device feature is supported and compatible. REFER to http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/all/phone-setup/phones- compatible-with-sync.html#?syncGen=sync3&country=us.

Is the inoperative Bluetooth device feature supported and compatible?

Yes

GO to Z4

No

It is normal operation for unsupported or incompatible Bluetooth features to be unavailable through the SYNC® system.

Z4 CHECK THE CUSTOMER’S DEVICE

Advise the customer to power their device off and back on for a simple reboot. If necessary, advise the customer to remove the battery (if possible) and re-install it for a complete reboot. If necessary, advise the customer to check their device for updates. If necessary, advise the customer to delete "SYNC" from the device’s Bluetooth menu prior to attempting to re-pair and re-connect the Bluetooth device with the APIM. If necessary, the customer can also perform a Master Clear, Master Reset, or Factory Data Reset on their device following the manufacturer's instructions in the device's owner's manual and/or website.

Is the concern still present?

Yes

The fault is with the customer's device.

No

The system is operating correctly at this time. INSTRUCT the customer to review the device compatibility list. REFER to owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/all/phone- setup/phones-compatible-with-sync.html#?syncGen=sync3&country=us.

Z5 CHECK FOR CORRECT APIM (SYNC MODULE) OPERATION

Ignition OFF. Disconnect and inspect the APIM connector. Repair:

Corrosion (clean module pins or install new connectors or terminals) Damaged or bent pins (install new terminals or pins) Pushed-out pins (install new pins as necessary)

Reconnect the APIM connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
