Cylinder Head — Removal

Engine - 2.3L EcoBoost (231kW & 314PS)

Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE - 2.3L EcoBoost (231kW/314PS).

4. Disconnect the battery ground. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

5. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING AND VACUUM FILLING .

6. Remove the following items:

Refer to: Turbocharger .

Refer to: Intake Manifold .

Refer to: Camshafts .

NOTE: If the valve tappets are to be reused, note the location of the valve tappets to make sure they are assembled in their original positions.

7. Remove the valve tappets.

8. Detach and disconnect the fuel rail electrical connector.

Detach the wiring harness retainers.

Remove the fuel rail insulator shield.
