Thermostat — Removal — Engine Cooling - 3.7L Duratec (227kW 301PS) · Reference 5942

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > THERMOSTAT > REMOVAL

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining and Vacuum Filling .

2. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: AIR CLEANER OUTLET PIPE .

NOTE: Cover the accessory drive belts to prevent coolant contamination of the belts.

3. Completely cover the accessory drive belts with waterproof plastic.

NOTE: During installation, make sure the coolant outlet connection is fully seated on the thermostat housing before tightening the bolts.

4. Remove the bolts and detach the coolant inlet connector.

Torque

: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

5. Remove the thermostat and discard the O-ring seal.
